Synopsis

Bio-Kult Infantis is scientifically developed to support the natural balance of bacteria in growing tummies.

We all have thousands of different bacterial strains in our gut, each playing an important role in maintaining overall health and wellbeing. In fact, 70% of our immune system can be found in our gut. Our advanced formulation contains 7 strains of live bacteria, as well as fructo-oligosaccharides (FOSs), which complement this developing infant gut flora. It’s also a source of vitamin C, which contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

Easy to add to food, milk, juice or water – and suitable for children over 6 months – it’s a simple way to support healthy development as they grow.

For allergens, see ingredients list in bold.
Why do we use milk and soya? Milk and soya are used in the fermentation process. The good news is that the content is at a level that would not affect people who are lactose-intolerant.

What is Bio-Kult Infantis used for?

Bio-Kult Infantis is designed specifically for infants and young children. The 7-strain formulation is designed to support the immune system and complement the developing infant gut flora.

What are the benefits of Infantis supplements?

Bio-Kult Infantis is designed to support the immune system and to complement the developing infant gut flora. Bio-Kult Infantis is an advanced multi-action formulation, specially designed for babies, toddlers and young children. It contains 7 scientifically developed strains of live bacteria that are present in a healthy human gut, as well as fructo-oligosaccharides (FOSs). It also contains vitamin C, which contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

How much Infantis should I give my child?

Bio-Kult Infantis can be given from birth to breastfed infants and infants consuming under 500ml of formula per day. Any infants or children can take Infantis from 6 months of age. Give one sachet daily with or after food. It can be added to food, water or milk. If your child is taking any medication or has any medical conditions, please consult their doctor before giving any food supplement. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

How do I know if my child needs live bacteria supplements?

There are many reasons parents and carers choose to give Bio-Kult Infantis to their children – for example, to provide immune support or when taking antibiotics.

Should adults take Bifidobacterium infantis?

Bio-Kult Infantis has been developed to complement the developing infant gut flora. Although Bifidobacterium infantis is generally included in dietary supplements for children, there’s no reason to believe adults can’t benefit from it as well.

Can I pre-prepare Bio-Kult Infantis and store for use later?

Ideally, once hydrated by adding to a drink or food, Bio-Kult Infantis should be consumed straight away. Testing suggests that if diluted into drinking water, the viability of the bacteria will remain for up to 12 hours. However, we have only conducted viability testing on water, not other liquids such as milk or juice, so our recommendation would be to consume these diluents immediately. Small tummies can get full fairly quickly, so using a small amount of liquid/cup may be of benefit to ensure that it can all be drunk and the full dose consumed.

Does my baby need a live bacterial supplement if I am currently taking one and breastfeeding?

Live bacteria supplements taken by mothers during breastfeeding appear to positively influence the microbial and mineral composition of breast milk. Evidence remains unclear as to whether the supplemented live bacteria strains themselves enter the mammary gland. Nevertheless, evidence indicates an increase in Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria in both the colostrum and mature milk in those taking live bacteria supplements, which may potentially bestow benefits on the child. Giving a live bacteria supplement to your child is a more direct way to provide a high amount of friendly bacteria to the developing infant gut. Much of the research in infants has looked at the potential health outcomes for breast-fed, as well as bottle-fed, babies, with various potential benefits observed.

What are fructo-oligosaccharides, and why are they included in Bio-Kult Infantis?

Fructo-oligosaccarides (FOSs) are a type of carbohydrate that are naturally found in plants such as onion, chicory, garlic, asparagus, banana and artichoke, among many others. The FOSs used in Bio-Kult Infantis come from chicory root, and are included to complement the developing infant gut flora. FOSs are classed as a type of soluble dietary fibre. FOSs cannot be broken down by our intestinal enzymes, so they travel undigested to the large intestine where they are metabolised by our friendly gut bacteria, helping them to thrive and produce various beneficial compounds.
